New User Registration

Broward County Code of Ethics and Oakland Park Code of Ordinances require lobbyists to register prior to communicating with elected officials, city advisory board or committee members, or City staff during the time of the entire decision making process.

Who is a Lobbyist?

A person who is retained, with or without compensation, for the purpose of lobbying; or a person who is employed by another person or entity, on a full-time or part-time basis, principally to lobby on behalf of that other person or entity who seeks any action, decision, recommendation of the elected officials, city advisory board or Committee members, or city staff during the time of the entire decision making process.

The following requirements apply to all lobbying activity.

Lobbyists must complete a contact log contemporaneously with the lobbying activity or as soon thereafter as practicable, but no later than three (3) days following the lobbying activity;
The contact log completed by the lobbyists must include the name of each person attending or participating in the lobbying activity as well as the location;
The lobbyist's obligation to complete the contact log applies irrespective of where the lobbying activity occurs or whether the communication occurs in person, by telephone, email, video conference or in writing; and
Each municipality must create and maintain a contact log accessible by registered lobbyists.

There is no fee to register as a lobbyist with Oakland Park.

Once registered, the lobbyist must log in each lobbying activity as soon as possible, but no later than three (3) days following the lobbying activity.

I am the person who has signed up for, and is identified by, my password and user ID as the lobbyist.
I understand that I may not share my password or user ID with any other person, because my password and user ID are the equivalent of my signature.
I understand that I must register as a lobbyist in Oakland Park for each Employer/Client whom I am representing within 10 days of beginning my lobbying activities.
I am authorized by each Employer/Client by whom I am employed to legally certify and make filings required by the Broward County Ethics Law.
I understand that I will be personally and legally liable for the veracity, accuracy, and timeliness of all information submitted under my password and user ID, including any information filed without my consent or knowledge, as a result of any failure by me to safeguard and keep confidential my password and user ID.
I accept all applicable legal and financial liabilities, including for perjury, if any submitted information is not true, complete, or timely filed.
I understand that if I authorize anyone else to perform data entry tasks for required filings on my behalf, it will still be my responsibility to review, file, and sign these entries certifying the completeness and accuracy of such filings.
